Super Sunday

Well, it’s here. It’s Super Bowl Sunday. This is one of my favorite days of the year. I looked back and I have only missed one Super Bowl since 1983. That goes all the way back to when I was in third grade. I had to work during the St. Louis Tennessee game, and it turned out to be one of the better Super Bowls. From that moment on I decided that if I was scheduled to work during the Super Bowl, I would take vacation.

I have been lucky enough that my favorite team, the Denver Broncos, have been to 5 of the 23 Super Bowls that I have seen. The first three they lost. I was crushed each time. It was incredible when they finally one it in 1998. I couldn’t imagine how the players felt, or even how Elway felt after losing three previous game. To this day I don’t think a day goes by that I don’t think about how great it was that my Broncos won the Super Bowl. It’s been ten years since their first Super Bowl win, and it feel like it was yesterday.

The Broncos were a 14 point underdog when they won their first Super Bowl against the Packers. The last I heard the Giants were 13 point underdogs for today’s game. I am not a big Giants fan. They broke my heart in 1987, but I will still be rooting for them today. I usually root for the AFC team, but the patriots have won it enough in recent years.

I wont be going to a Super Bowl party. I am not a big fan of Super Bowl parties, too many distractions. I just like to sit back and enjoy the game. I might order a pizza, that’s about it. And no, I don’t really pay attention to the commercials.
