Why It’s Hard Out There For A Lefty
As a lefty, I experience these problems all the time. Well, except for the can opener. I don’t seem to have a problem with can openers.

Spot the Station
Last night I saw the International Space Station for the first time. You can sign up to get email or text alerts when the ISS is going to be passing overhead you here. I signed up a while back, but haven’t had a chance to try to see it until last night. It was pretty cool and came right on time, right at 9:37 PM, and it took about three minutes to cross the sky. I was surprised how bright it was. You can’t really miss it if you are looking in the right direction at the right time.

Videos of people playing bass flutes
Being the band geek that I was in high school, I’ve always loved obscure musical instruments. In high school I played the Baritone because that’s about as obscure as you can get in high school. Most people probably don’t know what a baritone is unless they were in band themselves. I liked it because I was always the only baritone player. I didn’t have to worry about the different competitions for different chairs. That being said, I had to be good. I couldn’t just fake my parts because I was the only one.
Being a low brass member along with the tuba and trombone players, we always thought ourselves as a little better than the rest of the band. We were big, bad, low, and loud. We always made fun of the flute and clarinet players. Our favorite saying was, “I wish I played the clarinet, I’d be cool, yeah you bet”. It was all in good fun though. We knew it took everybody to make the band.
What I didn’t know is that there was such a thing as a bass flute. How cool is the flute in the above video? Now that’s a flute I would love to learn to play.

The math behind my favorite card trick
I like card tricks that are based on math. They are easy to do, and work every time without any fancy trickery done with your hands. On today’s Numberphile they explained my favorite card trick.

I’m a sucker for any Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy shirts, so obviously I had to buy today’s Woot! Shirt.

Gangnam Style marching band
I’m sure, like me, you are sick of all the “Gangnam Style” videos, but the band geek in me kinda loves this one.
