Making Money

Well, we are back from the casino. No big winnings. I don’t gamble so I didn’t lose anything. My wife was up $120 at one point. I have no idea why she didn’t quit. We ended up down $40. Not to bad for gambling for over 12 hours. She started at 3:00 in the afternoon and we didn’t go to bed until 4:00 in the morning.

I spend the day in and out of the casino. Sadly there was no WiFi at the hotel. I did have to do a little Windows reinstall on my Brother-in-Laws buddy’s computer. For some reason the printer would not install. Something was wacked up, plus his system was in desperate need of a reinstall.

After we got everything working we tried out the scanner by scanning some money. It was kind of funny because the software wouldn’t let us print the money. It would only print half of it and then a web link to some rules of use website.

So of course since they said I couldn’t make a copy of a 20 I was bound and determined to do so. It was pretty simple to do. I just hit the copy button. walla! Pretty damn good copy too. Then we turned it over and printed the back, cut it out, and we had a fake $20 bill that was almost indistinguishable from a real one. We were fooling people all night thinking that it was real. I could easily see that fooling someone at Walmart.

That got me thinking, at what point would what we did be illegal? To me as long as we didn’t try and spend it we were fine, but I am pretty sure just making the copy was breaking some laws. I wonder if even making a bad copy is against the law? I also wonder if foreign money would get around the copy protection?
