• Flashback Friday: Motion City Soundtrack – “The Future Freaks Me Out”

Today we are flashbacking to only eight years ago. It’s hard to believe this song is eight years old already. If you’ve been reading my blog for any amount of time, you know my current favorite band is Motion City Soundtrack. I get to see them yet again tomorrow. I pretty much lost count at how many time I have seen them, and every time I see them I can’t wait to see them again. They are opening up for Weezer at the Minnesota State Fair tomorrow. Weezer is another band that I have lost count how many times I have seen. It’s pretty much my dream concert. I should have a great time.

  • Flashback Friday: Liz Phair – “Never Said”

In 1993 when Exile in Guyville was released I discovered Liz Phair. This is her first video for “Never Said”. I have been in love with her ever since. Seeing her play at 1st Ave was probably one of the best concerts I have ever been to. When she sang “Little Digger” it was the one and only time that I shed a tear at a concert. So great, so beautiful, so amazing. You really gotta love Liz Phair.

  • Flashback Friday: The Lemonheads – “It’s a Shame About Ray”

Last Friday I mentioned first discovering Juliana Hatfield on The Lemonheads Album It’s a Shame About Ray. To this day that album is probably in my top 10 list. I first got the album on cassette on a whim from one of those Columbia House Club thingies. I was still in high school and I remember playing the hell out of that cassette. Later on in college I picked up the CD and introduced my roommate to The Lemonheads, and he instantly fell in love with them and Juliana Hatfield also.

  • Flashback Friday: The Juliana Hatfield Three – “My Sister”

I never got into the Blake Babies. My first introduction to Juliana Hatfield was on the amazing Lemonheads album, It’s a Shame About Ray. So of course I picked up her second solo album, which strangely is the only one where she used the band name The Juliana Hatfield Three. I fell in love with the album instantly, and have bought every Juliana Hatfield album since.

She recently released her latest album, which was financed buy her fans with the help of PledgeMusic.com. I gladly gave her $40 for a signed copy of her book, and the album download. Like I said 100 times before, I love it when I can support artists directly. Plus I got a signed copy of Juliana fucking Hatfield’s book!!! Ok, I guess you would have to be a fan to understand how awesome this is.

  • Flashback Friday: Ace Of Base – “All That She Wants”

Ok, I honestly hate this song. The only reason I am posting it is that it was a hit back in my early college years, about the same time as my other Flashback Friday’s have been. When this song was big, all my college friends started calling me “Ace of Mace”. It’s kind of stuck with me, and I forever can’t forget this crappy song.
