50 Science Misconceptions
I meant to post this video last week, but it got lost in my feeds. I love John Green’s videos for Mental Floss, but in this video his brother Hank did it. I knew pretty much all of the Misconceptions, but it’s sad how many of them I was taught in school.

How to wash your (long) hair in space
Everybody on the internet loved Commander Chris Hadfield’s YouTube videos from the ISS. I’m hoping Karen Nyberg keeps up the tradition. She sure starts off with a bang. I couldn’t imagine having hair that long in zero gravity. Karen Nyberg is also a Minnesotan and she went to college at the University of North Dakota, so obviously that makes her extra cool.

The NEW Periodic Table Song
I love AsapScience’s new periodic table song.

Space Oddity
I’m sure you’ve all seen the video of Commander Chris Hadfield singing a revised version of David Bowie’s “Space Oddity” by now, but it was too cool not to post. As I type this he is heading back to Earth in a Soyuz capsule. I’m going to miss his great Youtube videos from the ISS.

Chelyabinsk Meteor Shockwave Compilation
It’s amazing what the shockwave from a large rock traveling faster than a bullet can do.

Astronaut and Barenaked Ladies sing together
This is so cool. It’s Astronaut Chris Hadfield singing and playing with members of the Barenaked ladies. It’s a great song too.

Overly-Honest Product Stickers
When I hear someone say they are eating healthy because they are eating “organic” I just cringe. Just because something is labeled “organic” doesn’t make it more healthy. It pretty much means you just paid more for it. Technically almost all foods are organic. Anything containing carbon is organic. The food industry has hijacked the word to give the impression that a product is better, safer or healthier, when none of those are true.
The other labels I can’t stand are “Chemical-free”? What the hell is it then? And “Natural”? Isn’t everything Natural? Where the hell do you find “un-natural” food?
Steve D over at madartlab.com made up some great overly-honest product labels. I love them.
He also added a homeopathic one in the comment section.
I love them. You can go to madartlab.com to get the higher quality versions.

How To Wash Your Hands In Space
It’s another video that makes me want to experience the weightlessness of space.

Pale Blue Dot Animation
I love Carl Sagan’s “Pale Blue Dot” essay. The above animation put to the essay is awesome. I’ve been in a Carl Sagan mood lately and have been watching his Cosmos series on Nexflix—since I was only five when it first game out—and have never seen it. I also thought I should watch it before 2014 when Neil deGrasse Tyson’s version will be airing. I can’t wait.
