• Ben Fold Five concert tonight

Here is Ben Folds Five latest video. I’ve seen Ben Folds in concert, but tonight will be my first time seeing Ben Fold Five. Kate Miller-Heidke is opening for them. She opened for Ben Folds the last time I saw him, and was really good. I’m looking forward to seeing her again too. Here is the video for my favorite song of hers titled “Caught in the Crowd”.

  • Tony Sly’s final performance

Three of my favorite punk bands from the 90s are NOFX, Lagwagon, and No Use For A Name. We sadly lost Tony Sly from No Use For A Name on July 31st. This video was was the very last song he ever performed live. It was a NOFX cover he played with Joey Cape from Lagwagon. In case you don’t know, that’s Joey Cape on the left and Tony Sly on the right. I still can’t believe Tony Sly is gone.

  • New Music Saturday: The Wonder Years

Yeah, I know it’s not Saturday, but it’s close enough. The Wonder Years are another band that are pretty popular in my world, but I don’t know how popular they are in the real world. This week they released a video to a new song that is going to be included with a book that they are releasing titled “Living Room Song”. I’m really digging it. Sometimes the simplest videos are the best.

  • New Music Saturday: We Are the In Crowd

I’ve been a fan of We Are the In Crowd for what seems like forever. In my world they are a pretty big band, and I assume most people know about them. In reality, that’s probably not true. This video is their latest off their debut full length album, Best Intentions.

  • New Music Saturday: TAT

I feel I’m a little late to the game with this band. I discovered them maybe six months ago. Sure you may not have heard of TAT, but they have been a band since 2003, and their one full length album came out in 2008. They also have a bunch of EPs out. Their acoustic EP is especially amazing. You can check out more of their awesomeness on their YouTube page. They are literally the best new band that I have discovered in years.

  • New Music Saturday: Candy Hearts

I’m going to start using Saturdays as the day that I post new music that I am really digging lately, if I remember. Today that band is Candy Hearts. I don’t know if they have any official videos. I couldn’t find any. The above video is an acoustic live performance of their song “Lighter Than the Air” off their latest album, Everything’s Amazing & Nobody’s happy. You gotta love an album named from a Louis C.K. bit, but it’s even better because it contains some great songs too. You can probably pick it up wherever you get your music, but I got it from their Bandcamp site.

  • Band you should know: Mixtapes

So one of the bands that I’ve been in love with lately is the Mixtapes. The above video is off their Hope is for People EP that they released last year. I believe all their music has been self released so far. They have one album, and a handful of EPs, and they’re all great. They have a new album coming out on Tuesday on No Sleep Records. I’m really looking forward to it.
