First of May?
So according to the calendar it’s the first of May. I usually like to post the great Jonathan Coulton song about the first of May, but I’m not really feeling it since the ground is now covered in snow. It feels more like the first of April. If you want to hear the great JoCo song you will have to check out last years post.

Flashback Friday: Sugar – “If I Can’t Change Your Mind”
I never got into Hüsker Dü in the 80s, but Sugar was one of my favorite bands in the early 90s. Sadly they only produced a couple of albums, but I have liked all of Bob Mould’s stuff since. It was also cool to hear his voice on the latest Foo Fighters album.

The Dollyrots – “Rollercoaster”
via youtube.comI’ve been posting a lot of music lately and thought maybe I should start sharing some of the current music that I am into. Yesterday The Dollyrots posted their latest video for “Rollercoaster” on YouTube. It’s off their latest album, A Little Messed Up, that came out last year and was one of my favorite albums of 2010.

Flashback Friday: Sonic Youth – “Bull in the Heather”
I became a Sonic Youth fan a few years before “Bull in the Heather” came out on Experimental Jet Set, Trash and No Star in 1994, but “Bull in the Heather” was probably the first Sonic Youth video to get some major play on Mtv. Hearing it instantly takes me back to my freshmen year of college.

“Weird Al” Yankovic – Perform This Way
via youtube.comMost artists are flattered to be parodied by Weird Al. I have heard many say they know they made it big when Weird Al writes a parody for one of their songs.
Not Lady Gaga.
Apparently she didn’t approve the the song. Weird Al could go ahead and legally put in on his album anyway under fair use, but he’s a nice guy and only puts them on his album if the artist approves. You can read all about Weird Al’s Gaga Saga here.
**Update** I guess Lady Gaga isn’t as stupid as we thought.
