Giving in to Facebook
Over the weekend I realized that it’s probably my family that I hate, not Facebook. It’s not that I hate my family, I just hate the shit they post on Facebook. It’s the shit that use to get forwarded around in emails, now it just clutters up Facebook feeds.
I’m a completionst, so I hate Facebook’s algorithms. I want to see everything. I am going to try to give up on that idea and let Facebook’s algorithms do their job. I’ve hidden a few posts I didn’t like, and my feed already seems better.
I’ll probably no longer hear from a few friends since all they post is crap, but that’s probably better for my sanity anyway.

So Long Farewell
A week from today I will be seeing Motion City Soundtrack for the last time. I’m looking forward to it and not looking forward to it at the same time. We got VIP tickets so we will be hanging out with the band before while they do a few acoustic songs. It will be awesome, but it sucks that this will be the last time. At the same time I’m so grateful for all the great music they have made, and I guess not too many people can say they saw their favorite band 14 times.
Last week someone posted a video from their VIP session in Des Moines. Here it is:
It’s going to be great. Sad, but great.

Hate the Hate
Why is the world so full of hate? I do my best to avoid all the mass shooting news. Nothing is going to change, because nobody wants to do anything about it. Welcome to American, the world leader in mass shootings.
I have a bunch of family in the Orlando area who have been silent on Facebook. It’s probably for the better. I would hate to see what they had to say. My family is mostly right wing Trump fans. It’s probably better that they keep their mouths shut.
One of my favorite artists Allison Weiss is playing in Orlando tonight. I really feel for her. I’m sure the shooting of Christina Grimmie and then the mass shooting in the gay club really hit home for her; herself being a gay singer.
As a queer person it is so important to me that I don't let an act of hatred like this force me down into the shadows. #Pride

If you aren't comfortable coming tonight, we more than understand. But we won't let hate and fear keep us from playing music.

If anything, we feel the need for community. We want to be with you tonight. Let's sing together.

She is opening for Aaron West and the Roaring Twenties. I wish I could be there. It will be a magical show fill with love. That’s what we need right now.
