Sometimes I hate Verizon

I hate cell phone companies. My wife was having problems with her cellphone randomly shutting off. We brought it back to the Verizon store and it is still under warranty so that was a good thing. The only problem was that the replacement phone will have a software “upgrade” on it so the phone will no longer play MP3s. WTF? What kind of upgrade takes away features? They disguise it by letting you buy songs from VCast. Yeah, screw that. Why would anybody want to re-buy their music for their cellphone?

Well, we got the phone yesterday and it took me five minutes to find the hidden menu to turn the MP3 feature back on. No problem. Then Verizon wanted to charge us $10 to transfer the address book, but pictures and ringtones would be lost. WTF? Screw that.

Five more minutes and I had everything transferred to the new phone, address book, pictures, ringtones, everything. Why couldn’t Verizon do that?

I hate the way cellphone companies try to nickle and dime you to death. I don’t get suckered into it. I make my own ringtones. I don’t buy into any of that VCast crap. I just wish they didn’t disable features on the phone to make a buck.

Hmm… I never charge anyone to move their phonebook, especially not when its a warranty issue. Also, there’s a music kit we sell for her phone that you can put any mp3 on the phone without having to use VCast. I believe that kit is on clearance right now, if she’s still got the 8100. I’m sorry you had a bad experience…
