A night I wont forget

Yes I stayed up late to watch Curiosity land. There is no way I would have been able to sleep knowing it was about to land on Mars. I actually had this day marked on the calendar since the day it launched. I knew I had today off, and I’m so glad I did. I have no idea how much attention the main stream media was giving it, but it was all over then internet. I didn’t know who’s coverage to watch, but I’m a big fan of Fraser Cain’s Virtual Star Parties on Google+, so I watched their coverage. It did not disappoint. I feel sorry for the people that had no idea what was going on. It was pretty amazing.

Those seven minutes knowing that it has either landed or crashed, and we just had to wait for the data to arrive were pretty nerve-wracking. The slow speed of light can be annoying at times. Once were heard the news everybody went crazy, including my Twitter feed. It was a night I will never forget. The crazy looking sky crane worked to land on fucking Mars!

Just minutes after the land we got our first images, and I was able to go to bed happy.
