Akismet is awesome. It blocks 99.99% of all my comment spam. Today was one of the rare days where one slipped through. It was a weird one though. It was just a link to Google. Why would you spam a link to Google? I don’t think Google needs any “Google Juice”. Sometimes I just don’t get the point of some spam.

I am not a big fan of buying flowers. They are totally too expensive and they die in a week. So of course I hate Valentine’s Day even worse. I swear they jack up the prices of flowers for that day too. That being said, my wife love to get flowers, and see gets super crabby is she doesn’t get them on VD. So of corse I spent the $70 on some stupid flowers (the internet sure makes it less painful these days). She is happy, which makes it a good day for me too. How was your V Day?

Last week our Tivo had a brain fart and didn’t download Survivor. It’s one of the few shows I watch. So of course whenever Tivo misses something I just download it. Then I usually burn it to a DVD. This time I thought I would just convert it to a WMV file and watch it on the XBox 360. I didn’t realize how hard it was to find a program that converts to WMV. I found one that did, but the quality was to bad. I finally found a use for the crappy Windows Movie Maker. I just imported Survivor and then Windows Movie Maker converted it to a WMV file. It was still crappy quality, but watchable. I think I will be burning it to DVD from now on until I find a decent program to convert files to WMV.

So you know the latest Nickelback song that they play on the radio. I think it’s called Rockstar or something. I kinda like it. Sure it sounds like every crappy Nickelback song just with different lyrics, but I kinda like the lyrics.

You know how long we have been in this deep freeze? Well, deep freeze problem isn’t the right term. Our deep freeze is way warmer than it is outside. Well, today the wife said, “Hey, it’s a nice day out today. We should take the dog for a walk.” So then I checked the temp. It was -2º. Yes, now -2º is a nice day.

It seems like I never have time to read. I probably only get through five or six books a year. I usually read newer stuff. I wish I had more time to read some of the classics. Well today I checked out dailylit.com. They email parts of book to you every day. That way you can just read your email and eventually read complete novels. You get one email a day, and if you want to keep reading you can just click a link and the next part will be sent to you.

Of course they mainly only have old books that are in the public domain. The one newer book that I saw they have is Cory Doctorow’s first novel Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom. Cory has been giving away his books online from day one. He says it has increased the sales. I am one of them. I bought Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom after reading the first chapter online.

Now I can finally catch up on the Charles Dickens novels that I have never had time to get around to reading.

It’s crazy how warm 5º feels after the cold weekend we just had. I just shoveled the sidewalk and driveway in just a sweatshirt and no gloves.

I hate when people complain about how they hate Super Bowl or say they just watch it for the commercials. I understand not everybody likes football. To me this is one of the biggest days of the year. I have only missed one Super Bowl since 1983. I watch almost every NFL game that I get a chance to watch. The NFL is my American Idol. I think American Idol is stupid. I think the American Idol season finally is stupid. The Super Bowl is the NFL’s season finally. The finally of something that has been going on since 1920. It’s a big deal to a lot of people. It’s a big deal to me too. Sure, in the grand scheme of things it’s only a football game, but I love this game.

I finally got a story on the main page of Digg. Actually it’s on the main sports page. It’s the top sports story now. It was from an article I found about what the NFL does with the championship hats and shirts of the losing Super Bowl teams found here. When ever I find something interesting I try to post it to Digg. 99% of the time someone else has already posted it, so I just digg it again. In fact I have only submitted five stories in the two years that I have been on Digg. Actually it was exactly two years ago yesterday that I joined Digg. I joined on Groundhogs Day 2005. Go digg me if you want to.

I think it’s save to say that I won’t be spending much time outside today. It’s pretty cold out, but really, once it gets below zero you can’t really tell how cold it is. It’s just damn cold. Single digits would feel so nice now though. Hey look at the wind chill. I guess when you get down to -39º Fahrenheit and Celsius are the same. I didn’t know that, but then I don’t know much about the Celsius scale since I am just an American idiot.
