Motion City Soundtrack: “The Future Freaks Me Out” (live on The Daily Habit)
The other night Motion City Soundtrack performed, in my opinion, their biggest hit on The Daily Habit. It’s hard to believe it’s been eight years since I first heard this song. I think I have seen them in concert eight times since 2003. I’m averaging once a year. That’s not too bad. I saw Motion City Soundtrack last October, and will be seeing them yet again in a couple weeks at the Minnesota State Fair. I can’t wait.

Missing Hawaii
I’ve been on many vacations, but usually I don’t miss the places I have been once I get home. Hawaii was different. For some reason I really miss Hawaii. If money was no object I would totally move there. I could easily get use to perfect weather 365 days a year. The main problem is it’s just too far away from everything else in the US, oh and that money thing.
Yesterday at work I was craving this:
It’s a loco moco! It was probably the best meal I had in Hawaii. It was at just a hole in the wall place on the Big Island that served local dishes. A loco moco is usually rice with a hamburger patty covered in gravy and topped with an egg. I had a Kilauea loco moco which had chili instead of a hamburger patty. And of course it came with two Hawaii staples, macaroni salad and Spam. It sounds weird, but it was delish.
I pretty sure I won’t be able to find loco mocos anywhere in Fargo. I may have to try and make them at home sometime.

Homeopathic HCG scam
So yesterday in our local paper there was an article about a local guy that sells HCG for weight loss. It was a reasonably good article, but they were a little easy on him. They tried to explain how it works, but anybody with more than two brain cell could read right through it and realize it doesn’t work. The reporter should have came right out and said HCG is homeopathic, and homeopathy is a scam, but I suppose that wouldn’t have been much of an article.
The best part of the article though wasn’t in the paper. It was the comments online. I am pretty happy about how many people of reason left comments. It was quite funny when the owner of the company started to chime in and tried to defend his snake oil. I find it sad that people like him are taking money from people looking for an easy way to lose weight. Losing weight is simple, take in less calories than you burn. Simple as that. It’s not easy, and can be very tough, but it’s simple physics.

Flashback Friday: Liz Phair – “Never Said”
In 1993 when Exile in Guyville was released I discovered Liz Phair. This is her first video for “Never Said”. I have been in love with her ever since. Seeing her play at 1st Ave was probably one of the best concerts I have ever been to. When she sang “Little Digger” it was the one and only time that I shed a tear at a concert. So great, so beautiful, so amazing. You really gotta love Liz Phair. -

What’s your SSID?
via redditI love clever SSIDs. I’m the only one in my neighborhood with a clever one, but it’s not nearly as good as these ones. I wonder how this person found so many cleaver ones in one place?

Flashback Friday: The Lemonheads – “It’s a Shame About Ray”
Last Friday I mentioned first discovering Juliana Hatfield on The Lemonheads Album It’s a Shame About Ray. To this day that album is probably in my top 10 list. I first got the album on cassette on a whim from one of those Columbia House Club thingies. I was still in high school and I remember playing the hell out of that cassette. Later on in college I picked up the CD and introduced my roommate to The Lemonheads, and he instantly fell in love with them and Juliana Hatfield also.
