• Bricked iPod

Last night I went to grab my iPod before I left for work. As I was grabbing it off the dock it bumped into my cup of tea and fell right in. I was hoping it would work again after it dried off, but so far not so good. I don’t like it’s chances since it was turned on when it got wet.

Today I will be sporting a pink iPod Mini.

Tonight I will have to pick up a new iPod. I seriously don’t think I could go a day without an iPod.

  • Weekend

This past weekend we went to back to our hometown. The wife wanted to go garage saling with her family on Saturday. She got a few good deals and got me a box of computer parts for free.

Saturday night we went bowling. I haven’t bowled in years. They have “Extreme Bowling” from 10:00 to 1:00 Saturday nights. They crank up the music, turn out the lights, and turn on the black lights and the smoke stuff. It was pretty cool. We got six games played, and boy were my fingers and arms sore.

Sunday we planned our vacation for next year. Next March we are taking a cruise to the Cayman Islands. It should be fun. We will have a day on Grand Cayman and then a day in Calica in Mexico. I have never been on a cruise before, and the only other country that I have been to is Canada, so it should be fun. The bad part is it’s almost a year away.

  • Is This Legal?

It’s crazy how much of an uproar this number is causing:

    **Update**
    Awesome myspace page.

  • NAS Solution

My NAS server died yesterday. I was running FreeNAS on an old PC. It had been running fine no problem for a couple of years probably now. Yesterday something happened. It wont boot now and I can’t get anything of the drives. It’s not that big of deal since the files were mostly just backups. I am thinking about getting a hardware NAS box to replace it. I have found a few that are reasonably priced, expandable, and can serve as a printer server. I probably don’t have geeky enough readers that would have any suggestions, but I am open to them if anybody as them.

  • Today’s 5ive

Awesome Ping Pong Match – It wasn’t a serious match, but still a lot of mad Ping Pong skills going on there.

The Ask a Ninja Ninja on Mythbusters – The Ninja didn’t wasn’t on the TV show, but was in this online segment.

Make a Wallet out of paper – Cool, but if you have to resort to making a paper wallet you probably don’t need one anyways.

Apple in talks to bring lyrics to iTunes – I am a neat freak. One of the things that bugs me is the mess the lyrics to my songs on my iPod are it. I have ran software that puts the lyrics in, but they are never 100% accurate, and they never have all the songs. Having iTunes do it like it currently does with the album art would totally be awesome.

Jack Valenti dead at 85 – Is it wrong that I don’t feel bad about this?

Today was cleaning day. I unhooked everything from my home network, dusted everything off, and set it up again.

Since I had everything apart, I thought I would put two monitors side-by-side and try our synergy. Synergy rocks. I don’t know what took me so long to try it. I now have my Windows and Macs right next to each other. It’s pretty sweet to switch computers by simply moving the mouse. Now my KVM switch will only be used for switching to my Linux box. Here is what my setup looks like now.

Yeah, I just got old CRT monitors. I need to upgrade to LCDs, but I am cheap and my CRTs are working just fine.
