• Adventures of the Web for the Week of December 11th

I haven’t spent much time online this week, hence my lack of blogging and taking pictures. I just wasn’t feeling it this week and needed a break. I did find a few cool things on the net though.

If you haven’t see any of the Will it Blend episodes on YouTube, where have you been? This week he blends an iPod.

Then there is this hilarious Will it Blend Spoof.

33 names of things you never knew had a name.

Have you ever wanted to know how to make cream soda? I haven’t, but it does seem pretty easy to make. Not sure how good it would taste though.

You gotta love Hank, and here is one of his best rants.

This site has a bunch of cool videos of golf balls going through objects in slow motion.

Have you ever played Roller Coaster Tycoon? I know when I played it I would try and see how many people I could kill in a coaster accident. Here is how to kill a massive amount of people. I wish I would have thought of that.

And finally, you know I am a sucker for cool looking periodic tables. This one it pretty cool.

  • Jury Duty

I don’t know if I mentioned it on here or not, but I am on jury duty for six months.  It started in October I think.  I don’t remember.  Well, a couple weeks ago I got the card that said a trial for me was coming up.  It was for next week.  I just called and it was canceled.  I am assuming they settled out of court.  I was actually kind of looking forward to being on a jury.  Sure it would probably suck and be boring, but it would be nice to get out of work.  Getting paid from my job without being there or using vacation would be kinda cool.  Oh well, I guess I will be going to work tomorrow morning now.

  • Sign My Ride

So yesterday we were crazy and went to Walmart to fight the crowed and pickup some personal items we needed.  Sitting in the parking lot was this car with writing all over it and it said “sign my ride” in the back window.  There were people outside collecting donations and having people sign the car.  Crazy.  I noticed the car had Florida plates so I figured they have been driving all over the country collecting money and having people sign their car.  So of course I did a little Googling and found this.  Yep, that’s them.  And they came to Fargo.  Crazy.

  • Congratulations LT

It was a sad day for the Denver Broncos.  They got pounded by the Chargers.  LT set the record for touchdowns in a season.  He has 29 in just 13 games.  That’s incredible.  It sad that my Broncos are about knocked out of the playoffs, but they have some young rookies that are looking good so the future is bright.  Right now I am rooting for the Chargers.  I want them to prove that the AFC West is the best.  At least it’s not KC or Oakland winning the division.  There is no way in hell I would ever root for the chiefs or Raiders.

  • RIP James

I have felt sick all week knowing that James Kim from CNet was missing. Sure I have never met the guy, but I was a huge fan of TechTV and I try to keep up on what everybody has been doing after TechTV. I feel like I personally know all the former TechTVers. Of course I was a listener and viewer of James Kim’s podcasts. I was really saddened to know his body was found today. It was great when his wife and kids were found. It gave me hope that James would make it back. I was looking forward to the stories he would tell.  From what all his coworkers are saying, James was a really great man.  He will be missed by more people than he even knew.

  • DownloadPunk.com

I don’t buy music online.  Not because I just steal it, but because I don’t want crappy DRM on any of my music.  I want to do anything I want with it.  So I still buy CDs.  Half the time I can’t find the CDs in the store so I do end of stealing it.  I feel bad, but not to bad.  If they want me to buy them they should have had them at Best Buy.

I just discovered DownloadPunk.com.  It looks like a great site.  The punk music I like and no DRM.  This will be my first place to look if I can’t find the CDs in stores.  It also looks like every album has a free song on it so you can check it out.  Awesome.  I downloaded a Bad Religion song to check it out and it looks like the songs are 192k, so they are even better quality than iTunes.  I hope this site does really well.  This is the way music should be sold online.  [Link via Boing Boing]

  • Almost Broke It

Yesterday I dropped my iPod at work on a hard tile floor. I am glad it didn’t break. One of the corners has a small barely noticeable dent and the front is coming apart from the back at the bottom. It is barely noticeable, but I notice it so it bugs me. Good thing it didn’t break. I would have had to go out and buy a new one right away. I don’t know if I could like a day without my iPod. I want to wait at least until there is a new model out before I break my current one.

Oh yeah, we got snow today too, but not as much as some places. The storm kinda went around us for a change.
