• Up UP Down Down Left Right Left Right B A Start

When I was a kid I was a big gamer. I had an Atari 2600, Nintendo, Sega Master System, Genesis, and a Super Nintendo. I lived and breathed video games. I saved up all my paper route money to buy new games. I haven’t bought a console system since ’93 when I started playing computer games, and I haven’t been gaming much on computers since I got online in ’94.

Well, I have been getting a gaming buzz lately. We plan on getting an XBox 360 sometime soon, but man video games have sure gotten more expensive. I guess their market is getting older and has more money now.

it’s weird reading about video games now. I haven’t been paying attention to the whole scene for over 10 years now. It’s all new to me now and I don’t know if I am hardcore enough to drop the cash.

I am actually getting interested in getting a Nintendo DS too. It’s a lot cheaper and the games are cheaper. You can also play against people over wifi and I hear that a web browser is coming soon. That might be cool.

So the MacBook will be paid off in a month or two and I already have more tech toys to buy. Will it ever end?

  • Crikey!!!

Man, the news of Steve Irwin’s death is all over the net.  I don’t remember anything this wide spread since Sept. 11th.  I didn’t know the Crocodile Hunter was so big.  I have seen the show a few times, but it got old fast.  I haven’t seen it in years.  It’s kind of ironic that of all the dangerous animals he has dealt with, a stingray, which rarely kills people, kills him.

  • Seasons Change

Wow, it’s September already.  What happened to the summer?  It was actually a pretty nice summer here this year.  Hot, but nice.  It was rather dry so there was no mosquito problem.  That was nice for a change.  The sad thing is I have seen a few trees with their leaves changing colors already.  Won’t be much longer before the snow flies.  I hope it’s a “hot” winter this year too.

  • I wish I was a Planet

I just listened to the latest episode of Skepticality. It was a great episode. They talked about the whole Pluto demotion from being a planet. Pretty interesting stuff. It’s nice to know that the Skepticality podcast is back. I think I may need to look for some good astronomy podcasts.

  • Give it Away

I have been a fan of Rancid for many years. I thought their last album was one of their best. Well, October 7th Tim Armstrong will be releasing a solo album. The cool thing is that he is giving it away. You will be able to download it on October 7th. Now that’s the way to do it. You are already a rich rockstar. Why not give away an album?

  • Reinstall

So last night I did something stupid. I was surfing around some shady sites and downloaded a virus on my Windows machine. I should have known better, but I guess I am just getting use to the virus and spywhere freeness of OS X. The virus didn’t get me. My virus scanner caught it. Good thing I was running it. I don’t run virus scanners to often on Windows. I feel like I am smart enough not to get a virus. I guess everybody has a lapse of judgment from time to time.

So what did I do today? I reinstalled Windows. I didn’t have to, but it was getting about time. It was starting to get a little sluggish and I had a ton of shit on there that I didn’t need. It took most of the day, but now I got a fresh XP install with only the software that I need on it. Using it now kinda feels like crawling into a nicely made bed. I got rid of the piled up mess of blankets and everything is nice.

It’s still not as nice as OS X is though.

  • Concerts

I haven’t been to many concerts this summer, in fact I haven’t been to any. There are two possible ones coming up. In November we might go to Panic at the Disco! and Jack’s Mannequin at the Target Center. I can’t believe how huge Panic at the Disco! is getting. I remember when I knew them just from their MySpace page. I was looking forward their first CD to come out for so long. We saw them last year opening up for Fall Out Boy and nobody knew who they were. I also love Jack’s Mannequin. It would be cool to see them too.

The other concert we might go to is The All American Rejects and Motion City Soundtrack. I have seen The Rejects twice and they are good, but I am looking forward seeing Motion City Soundtrack again. Motion City Soundtrack is the best fucking band out there these days. I have seen them three times and would love to see them again.

  • Fake Blood

katchup.jpgSo you know Heinz puts all sorts of different sayings on their ketchup bottles.  I always look for the best one when I am buying ketchup.  Did you know you can order your own ketchup with your own saying on the bottle?  Kind of expensive at $6 a bottle though.  You of course can’t use explicit words, but you can’t even use the word blood.  I so wanted to order me some “fake blood”.
