• Eight is Enough

So it is official, Pluto is not a planet anymore. It didn’t take long for Wikipeida to fix it. So now they are saying we only have eight planets. Whatever happed to the planets that they found past Pluto? Are they just dwarfs too? And what is up with calling them “dwarf planets” anyways?  Wouldn’t a “dwarf planet” still be a planet?

  • Orb

I have been playing around with orb the past few days. It’s pretty damn cool. I can view all my pictures, listen to all my music, and watch my TV from any computer on the Internet. The only problem is it doesn’t work so well with DirecTV. I can’t change the channel on my satellite box, so I can only watch the current channel. Now I can watch Monday Night Football again at work since it will be on cable this year and we don’t have cable at work.

  • Making Money

Well, we are back from the casino. No big winnings. I don’t gamble so I didn’t lose anything. My wife was up $120 at one point. I have no idea why she didn’t quit. We ended up down $40. Not to bad for gambling for over 12 hours. She started at 3:00 in the afternoon and we didn’t go to bed until 4:00 in the morning.

I spend the day in and out of the casino. Sadly there was no WiFi at the hotel. I did have to do a little Windows reinstall on my Brother-in-Laws buddy’s computer. For some reason the printer would not install. Something was wacked up, plus his system was in desperate need of a reinstall.

After we got everything working we tried out the scanner by scanning some money. It was kind of funny because the software wouldn’t let us print the money. It would only print half of it and then a web link to some rules of use website.

So of course since they said I couldn’t make a copy of a 20 I was bound and determined to do so. It was pretty simple to do. I just hit the copy button. walla! Pretty damn good copy too. Then we turned it over and printed the back, cut it out, and we had a fake $20 bill that was almost indistinguishable from a real one. We were fooling people all night thinking that it was real. I could easily see that fooling someone at Walmart.

That got me thinking, at what point would what we did be illegal? To me as long as we didn’t try and spend it we were fine, but I am pretty sure just making the copy was breaking some laws. I wonder if even making a bad copy is against the law? I also wonder if foreign money would get around the copy protection?

  • Weekend

My brother-in-Law just recently turned 18. He has the coolest birthday. He was born 8/8/88. Man that makes me feel old. I remember 1988 like it was yesterday. Anyways, since he just turned 18 he is now legal to go to casinos in Minnesota. So we have a room rented for Saturday night at the casino. There are going to be a lot of friends and family there. Should be a good time. I am not a fan of gambling though. Playing games when the odds are stacked against you is one thing, but playing games with the odds are stack against your for money…not my thing. luckily one of his buddies is having computer problems. Since I am the guy everybody brings their computer problems too, I will be spending some of the day back in the room working on his computer. I am also looking forward to actually taking my MacBook somewhere and doing a little WiFi exploring.

  • To stick or not to stick

So Scoble is collecting stickers for his laptop. I have been thinking about stickerizing my new MacBook for some time now.

Part of me loves the stickers, but then part of me loves the nice, clean, white look. Maybe I will just enjoy the whiteness now until I find some cool stickers. I do have that cool The Action Design sticker though.

  • Geek Art

spaceinvader.jpgThis seems pretty cool. A little Space Invader art made with old 5 1/4″ floppies. I should try it out. I don’t think I have that many 5 1/4″ floppies laying around though. I wonder how it would look with 3 1/2″ floppies? I wonder what other geek art I could come up with?
