This weeks episode of Scam School was a great one. Brian Brushwood shows how the Power Balance guys are scamming everybody out of their money for their stupid little bands. I don’t like how he pussy foots around by saying he isn’t sure how the real Power Balance bands work, when we all know they are a scam and work exactly the same as the Placebo Bands do. He was probably just covering his ass.

Glad you liked the episode! As for pussyfooting around, part of it was because we wanted to play it safe (we don’t know how litigious they are), part of it was because selling “fake” bands and not caring whether the “real” ones worked fit the narrative of scam school better.
Most importantly though, calling the bands bullshit (which I think they are) won’t do much to convince people who bought them that they’re worthless. The louder we shout “fake” the harder they put their fingers in their ears. I’m hoping that this much more subtle approach gets more believers to question their assumptions than shouting “fake!” would.
